The sexual tension, the teasing, the Beckett jealousy, the cute longing stares from Beckett and Castle’s secret “I love you,” was cute about six episodes ago. And I could take it the past three seasons, but I am OVER IT!!!
And don’t tell me to trust the writers and Andrew Marlowe, because I am losing faith. And don’t shove down my throat I am not a Castle fan if I have a frustrated opinion. I am a huge fan of Castle and have pulled plenty of people in to watching the show.
I am just tired of the Castle writers, and Andrew Marlowe, not growing a pair and finally putting Castle and Beckett together. This will they won’t they, afraid of a non-existent, sub-par 20-year-old TV show’s crutch of a curse (I am speaking of the show Moonlighting) is just a convenient excuse for Castle writers and others from stepping up to the plate and putting this couple together.
I truly believe if you are a good writer, you can maintain the spark and sexual tension of a committed couple. There can still be problems, butting heads and arguments that can continue when the couple enter their home together. And you can keep fans interested if you have the chops to write it well.
A perfect example of a committed couple, that still maintains the witty banter and sexual tension, dates back almost 80 years. It was Nick and Nora Charles, portrayed by William Powell and Myrna Loy, in the film series The Thin Man.
I found this article that sums it up perfectly. Here is a quote:
Together and happy, life is comedy. The movies aren’t romances; that part of their story has played out. (We never are shown this. The movies start after that has happened.)
The appeal of Nick and Nora is that they are united – they’re married – and they are living that happy life implied by the endings of romances. This is something audiences rarely see, certainly not seen so well articulated and charming.

Maybe audiences were more mature, more sophisticated 80 years ago. Or maybe we have lazy TV writers who are too afraid their meal ticket will end to take a gamble. Either way, it is the fans of a show like Castle that are the losers in the end.
